About the Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our innovative team at an insurance fintech startup. This Backend Software Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions in the insurance industry. You will be based in San Francisco, California, working in-office five days a week, and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement end-to-end workflows for insurance agencies, focusing on automation and AI-driven solutions.
• Integrate with fragmented, low-tech systems to build reliable and scalable infrastructure.
• Engage directly with customers to gather feedback and iterate quickly on technical solutions.
• Contribute to greenfield development, enhancing our existing browser automation layer.
• Collaborate on system design and architecture to address complex, real-world challenges.

Requirements

• 4–12 years of backend engineering experience, preferably in a startup environment.
• Experience in early-stage companies (pre-Series D) or as a founding engineer is a plus.
• Background in complex industries such as insurance, fintech, or healthcare.
• Proficiency with modern AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) as part of your daily workflow.
• Strong curiosity and willingness to engage directly with customers.
• Willingness to relocate to San Francisco for a full-time, in-office role.

Nice to Have

• Experience with browser automation or web scraping.
• Tenure or impact at companies with a similar profile (e.g., Archipelago, Modern Treasury, Retool).
