Mid-Senior Android Developer (Kotlin) - Remote eCommerce Project

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Android Developer (Kotlin) remote to join our dynamic team at Hays. This role is part of a long-term mobile development initiative focused on enhancing a modern native Android application for eCommerce. As an Android Developer (Kotlin) remote, you will contribute to high-volume consumer operations across multiple markets, ensuring a seamless user experience.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
• Participate in application design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making as part of an Agile team.
• Implement new features and continuously improve existing functionality to enhance user experience.
• Collaborate closely with backend developers, testers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in production and staging environments.
• Contribute to process improvements, DevOps practices, and overall product quality.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Kotlin.
• Proficiency with Android Jetpack, Coroutines, and modern Android app architecture.
• Experience working with SQL, data storage, and data-handling mechanisms.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and profiling tools for mobile apps.
• Strong knowledge of version control using Git.
• Experience working within Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban).
• Solid understanding of software development principles, clean code, and design patterns.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in distributed teams.
• Fluency in Czech or Slovak and professional working level in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with API management & service mesh technologies (Apigee, Envoy, Kuma, Istio).
• Experience with cloud-native development on Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of build management tools (Gradle, CI/CD pipelines).
