About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Director - Data Centers Remote to lead our U.S. Data Center Mechanical Department at AECOM. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the design and execution of hyperscale data center projects while working remotely. What You'll Do

• Lead the U.S. Data Center Mechanical Engineering team, setting the vision and direction for mechanical design.
• Establish technical standards and best practices for mechanical design in data centers.
• Provide guidance on complex mechanical system design, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
• Oversee coordination with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Support resource planning and staffing strategies to optimize team performance.
• Mentor and develop engineers within the department, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards, maintaining the highest quality in our work.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
• Participate in client meetings as a senior technical representative, promoting new technologies to improve system performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 12 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, particularly in data centers.
• 4 years of leadership experience in a similar role.
• Professional Engineer License (P.E.) required.
• Direct experience with data center projects is essential.
