Manager, Accounting (Compensation) - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Manager, Accounting (Compensation) remote to join our innovative team at Kraken. As a fully remote company, we embrace a diverse workforce, with Krakenites located in over 70 countries. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of crypto accounting while ensuring compliance and accuracy in our financial processes.

What You'll Do

• Review and approve payroll and compensation entries before they are recorded in the general ledger, including payroll runs, benefits allocation, commissions, bonuses, and stock-based compensation.
• Reconcile G/L accounts and review reconciliations prepared by others to ensure accuracy.
• Take ownership of business unit general ledgers and serve as a point of contact for statutory audits.
• Ensure timely and accurate recording of business unit transactions.
• Support the preparation of business unit financial statements.
• Interact effectively with multiple business units, including Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Compliance.
• Assist in implementing internal controls and accounting processes, including documentation of process narratives and flowcharts.
• Coordinate the adoption of new U.S. GAAP accounting standards and execute necessary changes.
• Perform intercompany accounting, including reconciliation of intercompany balances.
• Collaborate with Treasury and other departments to ensure proper accounting treatments of complex transactions.

Requirements

• University degree in Accounting or equivalent with at least 7 years of relevant working experience.
• Chartered Accountant preferred.
• Experience in compensation accounting and a background in financial services, fintech, or banking.
• Proven ability to work in a multi-entity organization with a complex intercompany structure.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to understand complex financial transactions.
• Excellent presentation skills, both oral and written.
• Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
• Experience with ERP systems such as Netsuite or Oracle.
• Knowledge of cryptocurrency is preferred.
