Senior Backend Engineer - Rust for DeFi Innovation

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Backend Engineer (Rust remote) to join our innovative team at CoW DAO. As a key player in our mission to protect Ethereum users and optimize trade execution across DeFi, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the development of our decentralized trading protocols.

What You'll Do

• Architect and design off-chain services, including our core auction protocol and orderbook, to support feature growth and adapt to the evolving blockchain landscape.
• Write concurrent backend systems in Rust while collaborating with Smart Contracts written in Solidity.
• Participate in our on-call rotation to ensure the reliability of our production systems, with additional compensation for on-call work.
• Collaborate with researchers and the product team to deliver high-quality features and tackle challenging technical problems.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain the quality and performance of our open-source codebase.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production experience with systems-level programming languages, including at least 1 year of hands-on experience with Rust.
• Practical experience in web3, particularly within the DeFi and Ethereum ecosystems.
• Strong computer science, programming, and algorithmic skills.
• Experience in operating, maintaining, and architecting complex software systems.
• A commitment to code quality, readability, observability, and testability.
• Ability to provide technical direction to improve performance and refactor the codebase.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and providing technical guidance.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with auction mechanisms and DeFi protocols.
• Experience with additional programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, or Solidity.
