Labor Relations Director - Remote with Travel Opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking a Labor Relations Director remote to oversee all labor relations matters and related employee relations in your designated area. This role will serve as the chief spokesperson in labor negotiations and will be responsible for labor contract administration, including planning for, negotiating, and implementing collective bargaining agreement renewals.

What You'll Do

  • Lead labor negotiations and manage contract administration for multiple unions.
  • Advise operations managers, HR partners, and regional leadership on employment and labor relations matters.
  • Represent the company in arbitrations and before the National Labor Relations Board.
  • Prepare and negotiate initial and renewal labor agreements in accordance with corporate mandates.
  • Develop cost models for economic negotiations and draft contract proposals.
  • Conduct training for managers on employee relations matters, including union organizing activities.
  • Manage grievances and unfair labor practice charges, including drafting briefs.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of labor relations experience in a multi-contract, multi-union environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in labor negotiations and experience as a first chair negotiator.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment principles and applicable regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice to Have

  • An Advanced Degree, such as an MBA, JD, or Master’s in Industrial Relations.
  • Experience in a large organization with a focus on change management.
  • Deep understanding of the financial aspects of labor relations.
