Infrastructure Security Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking an Infrastructure Security Engineer to join our team remotely. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of our in-house-developed platform, Paylogic, which is integral to some of Europe's largest events. As an Infrastructure Security Engineer, you will work with a custom-built Linux infrastructure and manage security operations including Akamai WAF, BMP, and Account Protector. This role is crucial in protecting our platform from daily threats such as bots and DDoS attacks.

What You'll Do

• Own and manage the Akamai stack, including WAF, BMP, and Account Protector.
• Conduct vulnerability scanning and handle responsible disclosures effectively.
• Coordinate penetration tests and infrastructure audits, ensuring all findings are addressed.
• Engage with the EVENTIM Germany cybersecurity team for group-level security alignment.
• Monitor and improve platform performance, stability, and security continuously.
• Lead capacity planning and research solutions to support growth.
• Automate manual tasks to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in infrastructure engineering, SRE, or security engineering.
• Production experience with Akamai WAF (App and API Protector or Kona Site Defender) and Bot Manager Premier.
• Strong understanding of web application security, including OWASP Top 10.
• Networking knowledge relevant to edge security: DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, and DDoS mitigation.
• Proficient in Linux at the system level, with knowledge of the kernel and networking stack.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Python or Bash is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a small team and taking ownership of projects.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Prolexic for DDoS mitigation.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Percona MySQL, Memcached, Redis, Nginx.
• Familiarity with traffic analysis and distinguishing between misconfigurations and active attacks.
