Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer - Level 2/3
About the Role
Join Northrop Grumman as a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer - Level 2/3. This role is pivotal in supporting missions critical to national and global security. As a GNC Engineer, you will work on revolutionary systems that impact lives around the world. This position is 100% onsite in Chandler, AZ and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, implement, verify, and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools for guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) of various platforms including aircraft and spacecraft.
- Perform statistical processing of measured sensor data and integrate results into algorithms that simulate physical reality for navigation functions.
- Formulate and implement equations required to achieve specific positions, orientations, or orbital trajectories.
- Develop control laws and define hardware and software requirements for control design and analysis.
- Conduct comprehensive verification and testing, including unit, integration, and flight-representative simulations.
- Document design decisions, test plans, results, and compliance evidence in accordance with aerospace software standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align GNC solutions with overall vehicle architecture and mission objectives.
- Participate in a 9/80 work schedule, enjoying every other Friday off.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years, or a PhD with 4 years of experience. Additional experience may substitute for a degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
- Experience performing performance analysis on large data sets using data analytics and statistical analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in C++, MATLAB, and Python.
- Strong C++ development skills in a Linux environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience in performance and root-cause analysis of hypersonic missile systems.
- Hands-on experience developing, testing, or integrating GNC algorithms for hypersonic missiles.
- Familiarity with the AEGIS weapon system architecture and operational concepts.
