About the Role

We are seeking an R&D Cybersecurity Researcher to join our innovative team at Sandia National Laboratories. This role offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while contributing to critical cybersecurity initiatives that protect national security. As an R&D Cybersecurity Researcher, you will engage in cutting-edge research at the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI), applying your knowledge to secure government software and systems.

What You'll Do

  • Investigate and discover threats to software, algorithms, networks, devices, and systems to enhance national security.
  • Contribute technical ideas and implementation strategies to defend against cyber threats.
  • Engage in manual and automated reverse engineering, vulnerability research, and malware analysis.
  • Develop, fine-tune, and secure AI/ML systems to ensure their resilience against cyber attacks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security measures throughout the AI development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in engineering or scientific research.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • Experience in reverse engineering, software vulnerability assessment, and computer networking.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Rust, C/C++, and Assembly.
  • Excellent communication skills to present technical ideas clearly and concisely.

Nice to Have

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with static or dynamic analysis tools like Ghidra, IDA, or Windbg.
  • Familiarity with secure-system design principles and information assurance.
  • Experience in training and fine-tuning AI/ML models.
  • Knowledge of security best practices specific to AI/ML systems.
