Front End Developer - Remote Opportunity at UKTV

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive Front End Developer remote to join our dynamic team at UKTV. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our web codebase and contributing to our digital strategy aimed at delivering high-quality direct-to-consumer products. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced media environment, where you will implement new features and maintain existing functionalities.

What You'll Do

• Develop well-formed and logical code for new functionalities and bug fixes across our U platform, primarily for the web application.
• Implement accessibility features across our applications.
• Apply SEO techniques where appropriate to enhance our digital presence.
• Collaborate with platform partners to address technical issues effectively.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality standards are maintained.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
• Continuously learn and become proficient in Next.js and other cutting-edge technologies.
• Share development experiences and knowledge with team members and external resources.

Requirements

• Proven experience in UI development for direct-to-consumer products.
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Demonstrated competence in Next.js and understanding of state management.
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices, especially GitHub Actions.
• Good understanding of integrating APIs into existing technology stacks.
• Experience with single-page applications and video playback technologies.
• A passion for working in an Agile environment, utilizing Scrum or Kanban methodologies.

Nice to Have

• Experience with unit testing and/or test-driven development.
• Knowledge of front-end best practices and cross-browser compatibility.
• Interest in video encoding and DRM solutions.
