Development Director - Remote Opportunity with Relocation Support

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Development Director remote to join our team at the Hermitage Artist Retreat. This role is crucial in helping us make a significant impact in both our community and the national artistic landscape. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, managing, and executing our annual fundraising plan, which is vital for the Hermitage's mission and strategic goals.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, integrating all fundraising activities including annual, major, and planned giving, institutional grants, and events.
• Advise the Artistic Director/CEO on strategic and operational development-related activities.
• Develop and expand fundraising strategies to increase donor acquisition and retention.
• Manage the organization’s fundraising database, ensuring accurate data management and reporting functions.
• Oversee grants management, including research, application, and reporting.
• Coordinate fundraising event logistics and personnel, managing timelines, budgets, and project plans.
• Generate and edit content for fundraising communications across various platforms.
• Develop and manage the annual fundraising budget, reporting on progress regularly.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of raising major gifts and grants.
• Excellent organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
• Proficient with donor management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a graduate degree or CFRE/ACFRE accreditation is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Salesforce or similar donor management systems.
• Familiarity with the local and national funding community.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of constituents.
