Cybersecurity Vulnerability Assessor - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Cybersecurity Vulnerability Assessor to join our team remotely. In this role, you will conduct vulnerability assessments and play a crucial part in safeguarding our systems. As a Cybersecurity Vulnerability Assessor, you will utilize tools like Nessus, Qualys, Rapid7, and OpenVAS to identify vulnerabilities and provide actionable remediation guidance.

What You'll Do

• Conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments using industry-standard tools.
• Perform manual validation of automated scan results to ensure accuracy.
• Analyze vulnerabilities to assess their exploitability and potential business impact.
• Create detailed reports that include actionable remediation strategies.
• Evaluate vulnerabilities using CVSS scoring and prioritize them based on risk exposure.
• Collaborate with threat intelligence teams to incorporate emerging threat data into assessments.
• Work with IT teams to develop and implement effective remediation strategies.
• Maintain up-to-date vulnerability databases and track remediation progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security roles.
• Proficiency with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus, Qualys, Rapid7, and OpenVAS.
• Strong understanding of common vulnerabilities, including OWASP Top 10 and SANS Top 25.
• Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and application security.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation tasks.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to Have

• CREST Practitioner Security Analyst (CPSA), CEH, GCIH, Security+, or equivalent certifications.
• Direct experience working in government, military, or intelligence organizations.
