Backend Engineer - Developer Experience for Paddle

About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer - Developer Experience to join Paddle's dynamic team. This remote position offers you the chance to work on high-impact projects that enhance the developer experience for our billing platform. At Paddle, we provide a unique approach to payment infrastructure, serving over 5000 software sellers globally. Join us in creating a seamless integration experience for developers.

What You'll Do

• Contribute to and own features across our core backend services, including webhooks, email notifications, and authentication.
• Build and maintain SDKs in Go, Python, and PHP to facilitate faster integration for developers.
• Help mature our API practices, ensuring consistency and quality in our offerings.
• Utilize AWS services (ECS, SQS, EventBridge) to maintain a reliable and performant infrastructure.
• Engage in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Document processes and contribute to both internal and developer-facing documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define what an exceptional developer experience looks like at Paddle.

Requirements

• Solid backend engineering experience with Go as your primary programming language.
• Strong understanding of API design principles and best practices.
• Experience in building and maintaining production services, with a focus on stability and performance.
• Ability to independently tackle medium-complexity problems and deliver solutions with limited oversight.
• A product mindset, considering the developer experience in your work.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with PHP (Laravel) is a bonus.
• Experience with AWS infrastructure and event-driven systems.
• Contributions to SDKs or open-source libraries.
• Curiosity about AI and its impact on software development.
