AWS Systems Engineer - European Sovereign Cloud (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced AWS Systems Engineer to join our team remotely. This role will focus on the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), which is a groundbreaking initiative in utility computing. As an AWS Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services for EU customers.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the launch of the ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams.
• Enhance day-to-day operations, focusing on availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours.
• Review operational health of services, identify anomalies, and create actionable bug reports.
• Engage in the development and testing of scripts to improve workflows.

Requirements

• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering with hardware, software, networking, and operating systems.
• Experience scripting processes in languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
• Solid understanding of Linux and networking with troubleshooting skills.
• Able to lead the creation and improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs).

Nice to Have

• Experience with monitoring frameworks like CloudWatch, Datadog, or Grafana.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading strategic team efforts.
• Experience operating 24x7 high-availability distributed software applications.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CDK, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
