VFX Director - Remote Opportunity at Activision

About the Role

We are seeking a talented VFX Director to join Activision's renowned Infinity Ward team. This VFX Director remote position offers you the opportunity to lead innovative visual effects projects for one of the most iconic gaming franchises, Call of Duty. You will collaborate with a diverse team of creative professionals to shape the visual narrative of our games.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with project directors and production staff to achieve the creative vision while adhering to technical and budget constraints.
• Communicate any blocking issues or potential technical problems to leadership to prevent production delays.
• Define the visual effects style and quality bar for in-game cinematics and narrative sequences.
• Lead creative reviews and provide actionable feedback to maintain consistency across all visual effects.
• Drive innovation in real-time effects, integrating traditional cinematic techniques with cutting-edge engine technology.
• Oversee the creation and integration of VFX in real-time engines like Unreal Engine and proprietary tools.
• Partner with gameplay design and animation teams to ensure seamless integration of cinematic effects with gameplay experiences.
• Manage workloads, maintain schedules, and oversee project milestones.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in creating real-time and pre-rendered cinematics.
• Strong knowledge of VFX workflows and tools such as Unreal Engine, Houdini, and Maya.
• Intimate understanding of Call of Duty lore and visual tone.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Ability to adapt to various art styles and maintain high-quality standards.

Nice to Have

• Experience with game engine optimization and scripting languages like Python and MEL.
• Familiarity with AAA game franchises or high-end cinematics.
• Experience with VFX pipeline automation.
