Verification and Validation Systems Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We're hiring a Verification and Validation Systems Engineer to join Kodiak Robotics, a leader in autonomous ground transportation. This remote role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technology that enhances safety and efficiency in commercial trucking. As a Verification and Validation Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our autonomous vehicles operate safely and meet stringent product requirements.

What You'll Do

• Define and implement verification and validation methods across multiple test environments, including remote operation centers and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) labs.
• Develop and maintain test plans and procedures to evaluate system performance and safety for core remote assistance features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope, train, and implement new operational functions aligned with remote feature requirements.
• Analyze remote assistance features and test evidence to improve safety case arguments.
• Expand the remote assistance test suite to address edge cases and existing coverage gaps.
• Collaborate with remote operators and trainers to align on operational use cases and safety goals.
• Analyze test results to identify unexpected behaviors and perform root cause analysis to isolate system issues.
• Build tools to automate test execution, data extraction, and results reporting, focusing on repeatability and efficiency.

Requirements

• Must be a US person (permanent resident or US citizen).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, MechE/EE, System Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
• Strong experience in verification and validation, systems integration, and autonomy testing for complex systems.
• Willingness to travel to test/customer sites up to 25% of the time.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on testing experience at a test facility or in unstructured environments.

Nice to Have

• Proficiency in Python or C++.
• Experience developing human-in-the-loop remote assistance tools for autonomous vehicles.
• Familiarity with requirements and test management tools such as JAMA.
• Knowledge of safety critical development standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
