Technology Support Specialist - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a Technology Support Specialist to join our team in a remote capacity. This role is essential for providing end-user support and systems administration across our 10 village schools and 2 district office locations in rural Southwest Alaska. As a Technology Support Specialist remote, you will operate independently in remote locations, manage a broad range of end-user technology, and work closely with the Technology Director.
What You'll Do
- Act as the primary point of contact for hardware, software, and connectivity support for staff and students across all district sites.
- Provide direct in-classroom support alongside teachers for end-user devices across platforms including macOS, iOS, Windows, and Android/VR.
- Set up and maintain classroom technology such as Apple TVs, projectors, document cameras, and printers.
- Manage Google Workspace accounts, organizational units, shared drives, and app access.
- Oversee device enrollment, configuration profiles, policies, and app deployment using Jamf.
- Administer ManageXR for VR device management and assist with NinjaOne RMM administration.
- Support and maintain network infrastructure including UniFi switching, access points, firewalls, VLANs, and Starlink.
- Respond to helpdesk tickets and escalate issues to the Technology Director as needed.
Requirements
- Prior experience in an IT support or systems administration role is required; Alaska K-12 IT experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of macOS, Windows, iOS; familiarity with Linux is a plus.
- Experience with MDM platforms (Jamf or equivalent) is essential.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace administration.
- Practical network troubleshooting skills across wired and wireless environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience with UniFi or enterprise-grade networking hardware.
- Windows Server or Linux server administration experience.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, including AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, Route 53).
- Scripting experience (bash, Python, or PowerShell) for automation tasks.
