Senior Build Engineer - Starship Structures (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Build Engineer - Starship Structures to join our innovative team at SpaceX. This remote Senior Build Engineer position offers you the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects aimed at enabling human life on Mars. You will play a crucial role in the production, qualification, and design analysis of hardware manufactured for the Starship and Super Heavy Booster primary structures.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate closely with vehicle analysts to ensure solutions meet design requirements and manufacturing processes.
• Develop production procedures and manage the transition of parts and assemblies from development to high-rate production.
• Coordinate and execute development, qualification, and acceptance testing of systems and tooling to meet hardware deadlines.
• Implement design for manufacturability changes to enhance production efficiency.
• Create original CAD models and prints for flight and tooling components.
• Lead the on-site design engineering contact for efficient build processes.
• Create and maintain build schedules while resolving manufacturing discrepancies.
• Participate in design reviews with internal teams and external suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 1+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or production (internship and school projects qualify).
• Experience with large mechanical assemblies and knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software for mechanical component and tooling design.
• Experience transitioning complex products from R&D to high-volume manufacturing.
• Ability to write work instructions and procedures for critical aerospace parts.
• Experience in a production environment within the aerospace industry.

Nice to Have

• Master's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, materials, or industrial engineering.
• Involvement in a professional engineering society or collegiate design project.
• Experience with design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA).
