About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Supervisor of Maintenance and Operations (Facilities) to join our team in a remote capacity. In this role, you will oversee a full range of maintenance services for all City of Kitchener facilities and ensure the efficient operation of various systems. As a Supervisor of Maintenance and Operations, you will directly supervise maintenance trade staff and outside contractors, ensuring high standards of work and compliance with safety regulations.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise the work of Building Maintenance Generalists, Facility Operators, and other maintenance staff.
  • Ensure proper chemical balancing and water quality testing for public pool operations.
  • Implement a progressive technical training program for maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate safety training and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Manage maintenance schedules, delegate assignments, and oversee renovation projects.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis and prepare operations plans for facility improvements.
  • Liaise with various authorities regarding applicable legislation and standards.
  • Provide corrective and demand maintenance services, including a 24-hour emergency maintenance program.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-year degree or diploma in a related field.
  • At least 4 years of related experience in facilities management.
  • Valid Ontario Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain it.
  • Strong knowledge of life safety systems, HVAC, and building management systems.
  • Proven conflict resolution skills and exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Ability to write comprehensive technical reports and maintain detailed records.
  • Valid MTO Class 'G' driver's license in good standing.
  • Must be reliable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in project management and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of local municipal by-laws and provincial legislation.
  • Familiarity with building automated control systems and mechanical equipment.
