Staff Software Engineer - Hybrid Role in Dublin

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dublin, Ireland. This hybrid role allows you to work from home while collaborating in the office two days a week. As a Staff Software Engineer at Toast, you will play a crucial role in developing technology that empowers restaurants and local businesses to thrive in a digital landscape. What You'll Do

• Lead complex projects within a collaborative environment, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Orchestrate backend services to support internationalization, working across software in both restaurant settings and the cloud.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable systems critical to our customers’ success.
• Iterate on our technical approach to data management in support of our international strategy.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members, promoting best engineering practices.
• Engage directly with pilot customers to ensure successful delivery and operation of our solutions.
• Advocate for best coding practices, raising the bar for yourself, your team, and the company.
• Leverage cutting-edge AI tools to enhance your development workflow and contribute to a culture of innovation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in delivering high-quality, reliable services to production using Java, Kotlin, or other object-oriented languages.
• Proven track record of architecting, supporting, and debugging large distributed and multi-threaded applications.
• Drive to work across our tech stack and support other engineers in resolving challenging problems.
• Passionate about making users happy and seeing people use your product in the wild.
• Ability to embrace an agile mindset focused on delivering usable software.
• Experience with fiscalization and internationalization is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with React, Tailwind, GraphQL, and Storybook.
• Familiarity with PostgresQL and DynamoDB as core persistence solutions.
• Knowledge of message-based integrations using Pulsar, Camel, and RabbitMQ.
