Staff Infrastructure Engineer - Remote FinTech Opportunity

About the Role

Flex is seeking a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to join our innovative team in the FinTech space. This remote Staff Infrastructure Engineer role is an exciting opportunity to lead the technical direction of our infrastructure platform, ensuring we build, deploy, and operate reliable systems at scale. As a part of our mission to transform the rent payment experience, you will play a crucial role in empowering renters with flexibility over their finances.

What You’ll Do

• Lead infrastructure project teams across multiple domains, providing technical direction and maintaining project plans.
• Partner with engineering leaders to align infrastructure strategy with business goals and drive technical investments.
• Architect and deliver large, complex infrastructure systems designed for scale and reliability.
• Define and evolve Flex's infrastructure-as-code strategy, including Terraform module architecture and governance standards.
• Introduce new IaC tooling or frameworks as needed, driving adoption across engineering teams.
• Shape the developer platform strategy, focusing on self-service tooling, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
• Design observability architectures with operational standards to improve reliability and operational health.
• Drive systemic incident resilience by leading cross-team infrastructure incident response and implementing durable improvements.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on infrastructure engineering experience in production environments.
• Deep experience architecting and scaling infrastructure on AWS, with knowledge of EKS, S3, RDS, and more.
• Strong Kubernetes and container platform experience, managing multi-tenant workloads.
• Proven ability to design and improve CI/CD systems, focusing on deployment safety and developer experience.
• Excellent technical communication skills, capable of aligning stakeholders on technical direction.

Nice to Have

• GCP experience is a plus.
• Experience with Datadog for observability.
• Strong networking knowledge, including DNS, load balancing, and VPNs.
