Staff Frontend Engineer - Systems for Real-Time Telemetry

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer - Systems to join our dynamic team. In this remote role, you will play a critical part in building and scaling frontend systems that provide engineers with real-time observability into high-frequency telemetry. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with backend engineers and other stakeholders to define architecture, APIs, and data formats.

What You'll Do

• Design and optimize data pipelines that run entirely in the browser, utilizing technologies such as Web Workers and binary data processing.
• Build interactive visualizations for time-series telemetry, including FFT frequency analysis and scatter plots.
• Tackle high-performance challenges such as managing memory for large binary buffers and coordinating worker thread pools.
• Architect composable UI systems that maintain data fidelity and precision for technical users.
• Collaborate across the stack on API design and binary serialization formats for structured data endpoints.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building software for the web, with a strong focus on performance optimization and binary processing.
• Proficient in TypeScript and comfortable working within a React codebase.
• Strong systems-level intuition, including memory layout and caching strategies.
• Experience in building for correctness under constraints where data fidelity and performance are critical.

Nice to Have

• Experience with GPU-accelerated rendering in the browser (WebGL, WebGPU).
• Hands-on experience with binary data formats such as Arrow or Parquet.
• Background in Web Workers and other browser threading/storage APIs.
• Domain experience in fields where data correctness is crucial, such as aerospace or financial systems.
