About the Role

We are seeking a talented PTC Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team remotely. As a key member of the PTC Systems Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing train safety and efficiency through innovative solutions. This position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technology that prevents train-to-train collisions and ensures the safe operation of trains.

What You'll Do

  • Provide system-level technical guidance to the PTC engineering team throughout all phases of product development, including requirements definition, safety assessment, software development, testing, validation, and commissioning.
  • Specify detailed system requirements, behavioral models, and interface definitions to ensure compliance with customer needs and applicable standards.
  • Participate in requirement and design reviews with customers and development teams, ensuring clarity and alignment.
  • Verify pass/fail criteria for critical functions and tests as specified by the validation team.
  • Support troubleshooting and validation efforts in both lab and field environments, ensuring the highest quality of PTC solutions.
  • Occasionally travel to locomotive builders and customer locations to provide system expertise and support for new or existing products.
  • Drive technical issues to resolution, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic), Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Development or Systems Engineering, focusing on application software development, hardware, and/or testing.
  • Experience with configuration management, requirements management, and defect tracking tools such as IBM ELM, DOORS Next, or similar products.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), UML, or SysML is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Strong attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset, with a focus on quality.
  • Knowledge of INCOSE or similar system engineering standards is advantageous.
  • Debug and troubleshooting skills, with a willingness to work hands-on.

Nice to Have

  • Railroad industry experience is a plus but not required.
