What You'll Do

• Own the migration governance framework, designing workflows and automated procedures that ensure safe migrations across the organization.
• Drive the technical strategy for our global PostgreSQL database fleet, focusing on multi-region replication, capacity planning, and observability as we expand into new markets.
• Ensure database reliability and performance at the fleet level, monitoring health, optimizing queries, and building alerting systems.
• Develop self-service tooling and guardrails for engineering teams to facilitate rapid development without bottlenecks.
• Lead database incident response efforts, triaging production issues and implementing durable process improvements.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in database administration or infrastructure engineering with PostgreSQL as your primary database.
• Expert-level knowledge of PostgreSQL, including WAL mechanics, vacuum tuning, and replication strategies.
• Experience architecting database infrastructure for high-availability environments and leading major version upgrades with zero downtime.
• Proficiency in cloud database services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure Database for PostgreSQL) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Strong communication skills to present technical decisions clearly to diverse audiences.

Nice to Have

• Strong software engineering skills in Python, Go, or similar.
• Experience with vector databases and systems relevant to AI/ML workloads.
• Background in building or leading a database engineering function from scratch.
