SLAM / Multi-View Geometry Engineer - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a talented SLAM / Multi-View Geometry Engineer to join our Robotics team at OpenAI. This role offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while contributing to cutting-edge projects aimed at advancing robotics and artificial intelligence. As a SLAM / Multi-View Geometry Engineer, you will develop systems that enable robots to perceive, track, and reconstruct the world in 3D from multi-camera and multimodal sensor data.
What You'll Do
- Develop and deploy online SLAM systems used during robotic data collection with multi-camera sensor stacks and teleoperation platforms.
- Build systems for large-scale 3D reconstruction and point tracking across massive datasets, enabling innovative approaches to world modeling and perception.
- Collaborate with research and engineering teams to scale multi-view geometry pipelines to large datasets.
- Improve the accuracy, robustness, and scalability of perception systems used in robotics data collection and training pipelines.
- Integrate geometry-based methods with learned models in collaboration with robotics, perception, and ML teams.
Requirements
- Strong fundamentals in computer vision and practical experience building robust perception systems.
- Industry experience applying SLAM or visual-inertial odometry systems in robotics, self-driving vehicles, AR/VR headsets, or other real-world perception systems.
- Deep understanding of multi-view geometry, camera calibration, bundle adjustment, feature tracking, and sources of error in real-world SLAM systems.
- Experience with large-scale data processing pipelines or eagerness to learn and work with infrastructure supporting large datasets.
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving environments and collaborate closely with engineers and researchers to ship systems quickly.
Nice to Have
- Experience with modern machine learning methods and their application in perception systems.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or C++.
- Knowledge of robotics frameworks like ROS.
