Senior Systems Engineer - Remote Role

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to work for our client in a fully remote capacity. This Senior Systems Engineer remote position is perfect for a technically strong engineer who has hands-on experience with systems, networking, and automation. The ideal candidate will support and enhance enterprise infrastructure while collaborating with an Ohio-based team.

What You'll Do

• Design, support, and maintain Windows and Linux server environments.
• Manage and troubleshoot networking technologies including routing, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Support Active Directory, Azure, and VMware environments.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security.
• Implement infrastructure automation and configuration management tools.
• Develop and maintain scripts using PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
• Support hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure environments.
• Collaborate with IT teams to improve system reliability and scalability.
• Assist with system upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Document configurations, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

• 3+ years of combined Linux and Windows systems experience.
• 3+ years of networking experience (routing, firewalls, VPNs).
• 3+ years of experience with Active Directory, Azure, and VMware.
• Experience with scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools including Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
• Experience with AI-driven tools or platforms.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with cloud technologies and virtualization environments.
• Knowledge of best practices in system security and performance monitoring.
