Senior Software Engineer - Risk Engineering for FinTech

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Risk Engineering team at Flexible Finance. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative solutions that enhance the rent payment experience for users. At Flexible Finance, we believe in empowering renters with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing platforms and APIs that support our risk management initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development of a rules engine and machine learning solutions to mitigate business risks in the Flex platform.
• Design and develop high-scale APIs and distributed systems, ensuring they are robust and efficient.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to launch new features across our web and mobile platforms.
• Utilize your expertise in Java and Spring Boot to enhance our existing codebase.
• Implement risk policies within a rules engine to safeguard against credit and fraud risks.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on risk engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java, including proficiency in frameworks like Spring (core/web/boot).
• Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture, REST APIs, and scalable architectures.
• Familiarity with AWS services (EKS, Aurora RDS, Elasticache, DynamoDB) and containerization tools.
• Excellent communication skills and experience in cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to Have

• Experience with CI/CD systems, preferably GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency in observability and monitoring tools like DataDog.
• Familiarity with big data platforms and tooling, such as Snowflake.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using tools like CDK and Terraform.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and elevate team standards through best practices.
