Senior Software Engineer - Remote Role at Wave

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our mission of making Africa the first cashless continent. As a Senior Software Engineer remote, you will play a crucial role in building and improving the ways people pay with Wave. You will be responsible for every step of the process, from understanding user problems to shipping solutions and supporting our customer service team.

What You'll Do

• Develop and enhance our mobile app for cash deposits, withdrawals, and payments.
• Implement features that allow users to pay for products in stores and utilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate payment solutions for businesses.
• Utilize your expertise in Python, GraphQL, and various frontend technologies to deliver high-quality software.
• Monitor and improve system performance, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a product engineer.
• Proficiency in backend development with Python and familiarity with GraphQL.
• Experience with frontend technologies such as React, Kotlin, or Swift.
• Strong understanding of databases, particularly Postgres or CockroachDB.
• Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual in French is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms like GCP and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Previous work in FinTech or related industries.
