Senior Software Engineer - DNS & Networking (Remote)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (DNS & Networking) to join our team at Jamf. This role is offered as a hybrid position based in Brno, Czech Republic, but we welcome applications from candidates who are based in the Czech Republic or have sponsorship to live and work in the Czech Republic. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our DNS infrastructure, which handles approximately 500 million DNS requests per day across roughly 500,000 active devices. You will work closely with our Jade team, which is at the core of Jamf's vision for secure and compliant device management.

What You'll Do

• Write and maintain high-quality code in Golang, primarily focused on our DNS gateways built on CoreDNS.
• Support services using Java, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
• Contribute to scaling our infrastructure to handle significant traffic growth, implementing necessary changes to support this growth.
• Enhance system observability through better Prometheus/Grafana dashboards, smarter alerting, and synthetic monitoring of critical workflows.
• Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to cross-team engineering initiatives.
• Drive improvements in our systems, advocating for best practices and evidence-based solutions.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Golang and solid experience with Java.
• Experience in building and scaling distributed systems and high-throughput infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, and CI/CD practices.
• Prior experience with DNS, network protocols, or edge computing is a strong plus.
• Understanding of observability practices, including metrics, alerting, dashboards, and SLOs.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) is a plus.
• Strong ownership mentality and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with high-availability (HA) systems.
• Knowledge of security policies and threat blocking mechanisms.
• Familiarity with edge computing technologies.
