Senior Quantity Surveyor - Major Infrastructure Projects

About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team remotely, focusing on the Lower Thames Crossing project. This role offers the opportunity to lead commercial management in a dynamic and impactful infrastructure environment.
What You'll Do
- Act as the commercial lead on allocated project packages, providing Quantity Surveying and contractual support to the site delivery team.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, cost plans, and forecasts, ensuring accurate financial performance tracking.
- Manage valuations and applications for payment, ensuring timely and maximized entitlement through the full payment cycle.
- Lead subcontract procurement for project packages, including strategy, tendering, evaluation, and award recommendations.
- Administer subcontract and main contract obligations, including variations and change management.
- Provide clear commercial direction to site teams on scope, risks, and cost impacts.
- Produce monthly commercial reporting including cost/value reconciliation and cash flow projections.
- Support and mentor junior commercial staff, ensuring consistent commercial standards.
Requirements
- BSc / MSc in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Professional membership (e.g., RICS or equivalent QS accreditation).
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong grounding in construction contract law and commercial project delivery.
- Experience administering standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC / JCT).
- Ability to manage valuations, variations, forecasts, and final accounts across multiple work packages.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage risk and cost control in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with clients and internal teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects such as highways or tunnels.
- Proven track record in subcontract procurement and package management.
- Leadership capability and willingness to support junior staff.
