Senior Product Designer - Civic Tech (Fully Remote)

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Product Designer to join our team at Votely, a fully remote position focused on civic tech. In this role, you will own the end-to-end user experience, ensuring that civic engagement feels simple and rewarding. You'll work closely with founders, engineers, and users to create intuitive and delightful designs. This is a senior individual contributor role with high ownership and direct impact on the product direction.

What You'll Do

• Own the design of core user flows, including landing pages, quizzes, results, recommendations, and action-taking.
• Lead design for new product surfaces, such as our Local Action Hub.
• Build and maintain our design system, including components, patterns, and documentation.
• Conduct user research, including interviews, usability tests, and data analysis.
• Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure high-fidelity implementation of designs.
• Contribute to product strategy and roadmap prioritization.
• Establish design processes and best practices as the team grows.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience as a Product Designer or a strong portfolio from bootcamp/self-taught.
• Portfolio showcasing product thinking and interaction design, not just visual design.
• Proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, and prototyping.
• Understanding of accessibility principles and inclusive design.
• Ability to articulate design rationale and accept feedback constructively.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing responsive web applications, preferably mobile-first.
• Experience in a startup or consumer product company.
• Familiarity with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and React.
• Experience with motion design and micro-interactions.
• Background in user research.
• Interest in civic tech or social impact.
