Senior Principal DevOps Engineer - Remote Opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Principal DevOps Engineer to join our innovative team at Northrop Grumman. This remote position offers the opportunity to work on groundbreaking systems that impact lives globally. As a Senior Principal DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Sentinel program, contributing to the design, configuration, and maintenance of infrastructure and cloud resources necessary to host and support applications throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

What You'll Do

• Assist in designing and maintaining infrastructure and cloud resources for reliable application hosting.
• Implement Software Configuration Management (SCM) and ensure code quality through automated testing for CI/CD pipelines.
• Plan and evolve processes to support rapid capability deployment while maintaining a stable security posture.
• Write scripts and configurations to automate software testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Proactively monitor build and deployment pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and resolve errors.
• Automate infrastructure deployments using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Mentor other staff in DevOps concepts and processes informally.
• Collaborate with peers to identify workflows where automation can enhance efficiency.

Requirements

• 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field, or 6 years with a Master’s, or 4 years with a PhD.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
• 5 years of experience with build tools (Maven, Ant, GNU make) and CI environments (Jenkins, GitLab).
• 5 years of experience with Microsoft and Linux Red Hat operating systems.
• 5 years of experience with scripting languages (PERL, Python, Bash, YAML).
• 5 years of experience with Kubernetes implementation and Day 2 Operations in a CI/CD Pipeline.
• 5 years of experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Working knowledge of Cybersecurity technologies and NIST standards.

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• Experience with automation/configuration management tools like Ansible or Chef.
• Familiarity with container hardening and SBOM.
• Proficient with DOORS and Cameo for writing system and software requirements.
• IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security + CE) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
