Senior Operability Engineer - Aerospace Systems
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Operability Engineer to join our dynamic team at GE Aerospace. In this remote position, you will play a pivotal role in developing and qualifying gas turbine engine systems, showcasing your leadership skills to meet business goals and processes effectively. As a Senior Operability Engineer, you will be responsible for decision-making within defined parameters, immediate issue resolution, short-term planning, and supporting senior staff in long-term planning and data analysis.
What You'll Do
- Drive units and/or system-level functional performance to deliver customer solutions.
- Define and conduct testing of equipment and/or entire systems, identifying the best testing strategy and measurement system.
- Report performance with respect to guaranteed values in accordance with industry codes and standards.
- Participate in the research, design, development, and enhancement of technologies in performance, operability, and cost optimization.
- Develop specialized knowledge in your discipline and serve as a best practice/quality resource.
- Contribute towards strategy and policy development, ensuring delivery within your area of responsibility.
- Utilize your technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
- Lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements, explaining difficult or sensitive information to build consensus.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or College.
- At least 8 years of experience in an engineering position, with a preference for candidates with a Master’s degree in Engineering or a minimum of 3 years in gas turbine engineering.
- This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship.
- Experience in aircraft engine testing, cycle performance, or component aero design.
- Proficient in NPSS, Python, or similar programming languages.

- 2-5 years of aerospace or mechanical engineering experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to guide and influence others.
- Experience in engine qualification/certification and gas turbine engine test support and analysis.
