Senior Network Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our networking systems across the United States. This position focuses on minimizing downtime, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing automation to improve operational efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain site reliability processes for network systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
• Enhance monitoring and alert systems for early issue detection, contributing to a proactive network management approach.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and escalate networking service-impacting issues, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
• Configure, manage, and monitor network infrastructure, including enterprise servers and firewalls.
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve operational efficiency, utilizing tools such as Ansible and Puppet.
• Analyze network performance and contribute to capacity planning to support business growth.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on networking initiatives to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Create and maintain documentation for systems and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance.
• Participate in on-call rotations for critical network support, providing timely responses to incidents.
• Provide input on networking reliability best practices to enhance overall system performance.
• Engage in professional development to stay current on networking trends and technologies.
• Support strategic business initiatives and cross-functional projects, promoting positive interactions with internal and external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, networking, or related field preferred but not required.
• 5+ years of experience in networking or site reliability engineering.
• Proficient in troubleshooting complex networking and system issues.
• Skilled in managing enterprise servers, L2/L3 networking, and firewalls.
• Hands-on experience with FortiGate firewalls, including configuration and rule management.
• Ability to design and implement firewall policies and manage FortiGate VPNs.
• Experience with Python, Docker/container management, Git/GitHub, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
• Knowledge of Linux server maintenance and interface management (IPs, VLANs).
• Proficiency with iptables or nftables and permissions management.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Salt.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to mentor team members.
• Proficiency with MS Office, web conferencing, and internal communication tools.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a remote work environment.

• Certifications in networking (CCNA, CCNP, etc.).
