Senior Java Developer - AI-Driven Remote Role

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer remote to join our innovative team at NRG. As a Senior Java Developer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction of our growing software division, focusing on AI-driven development and web applications.

What You'll Do

• Enhance and maintain a web application used to monitor and manage complex systems.
• Support existing application environments, including AWS, ensuring optimal performance.
• Develop and improve interfaces with various devices and technologies.
• Collaborate closely with operational teams to ensure systems run smoothly.
• Contribute to the configuration and deployment of robust Java applications.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience delivering complex Java systems; experience matters more than years.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) in daily development.
• Strong Java skills, including threading, JDBC, sockets, HTTP/S, EJB, and JPA.
• Experience with client-side JavaScript and SQL.
• Familiarity with application servers such as WildFly and deploying Java applications.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a collaborative, non-hierarchical team environment.
• Passion for helping teams grow their confidence with AI through pairing, knowledge-sharing, or upskilling.
