Senior Java Backend Developer - Onsite Opportunity with Relocation Support

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer to join our team at Capstone IT Staffing. This role is based onsite in Glen Allen, VA, and offers relocation support for the right candidate. As a Senior Java Backend Developer, you will play a crucial role in migrating legacy systems to modern microservices-based architecture on Azure. This position requires a deep expertise in enterprise-level application development and a passion for building efficient, scalable systems.

What You'll Do

• Develop clean, efficient, and testable backend code using Java (versions 8-17) and Spring Boot.
• Enhance and maintain data access layers and improve system performance.
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to modernization initiatives.
• Work independently with proactive problem-solving skills.
• Engage in an on-call rotation every 12-16 weeks after completing onboarding and training.

Requirements

• 12-18 years of experience in backend development, with a focus on enterprise-level applications.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate (JPA, HQL), and web services (SOAP and REST APIs).
• Strong familiarity with Kafka and distributed systems concepts.
• Experience with MongoDB, Oracle/SQL Server, and database connectivity.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Azure and Azure DevOps for project tracking.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with WebLogic, JUnit/Mockito, Git, Gradle/Ant, IntelliJ/Eclipse.
• Experience in a manufacturing tech environment.
