Senior Game Designer - F2P Mobile Fighting Game

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate Senior Game Designer to join our team remotely and take ownership of the combat systems, meta-structure, and player progression of our upcoming F2P fighting game. This role is perfect for someone who can bridge the gap between hardcore competitive integrity and accessible mobile monetization. As a Senior Game Designer remote, you will be responsible for designing intuitive touch controls that maintain depth, as well as the live ops economy that keeps players engaged for years.

What You'll Do

• Design and balance core fighting game mechanics (hitboxes, frame data, special moves, counters) tailored for a touch-screen interface.
• Collaborate with artists and animators to create diverse rosters of cyberpunk warriors, defining their playstyle, move sets, and visual identity.
• Architect the free-to-play economy, including gacha systems for character acquisition, battle passes, seasonal events, and resource loops that feel rewarding without being exploitative.
• Design the meta-game (gear, implants, skill trees) that allows players to customize their fighters while ensuring competitive balance remains intact.
• Create engaging live ops calendars, including seasonal PvP ladders, boss raids, and themed events that align with the cyberpunk universe.
• Utilize data analytics and player feedback to continuously tune character performance, ensuring a healthy and diverse competitive meta.

Requirements

• 3+ years of game design experience, with at least one shipped title in the F2P mobile space.
• Deep understanding of fighting games (e.g., Street Fighter, Tekken, Guilty Gear, Mortal Kombat) including terminology like neutral game, mix-ups, and frame advantage.
• Strong understanding of F2P mechanics, including gacha systems, retention loops (dailies/weeklies), and soft currency economies.
• Proficiency with design tools (Excel, Google Sheets) for complex balancing.
• Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine is a plus.
• Comfortable using data dashboards (SQL, Tableau, etc.) to make informed balancing decisions.
• Familiarity with popular AI tools for game designers.

Nice to Have

• A passion for the cyberpunk genre—whether it’s Blade Runner, Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost in the Shell, or Akira.
• Experience balancing for high-level competitive play or working on games with an esports component.
• Ability to provide clear feedback on VFX, UI, and character animations to ensure attacks “feel” as impactful as they are statistically balanced.
