Senior Financial Crime Investigator - Remote UK

About the Role

Join Monzo as a Senior Financial Crime Investigator and play a crucial role in safeguarding our business banking operations. This remote position allows you to work from anywhere in the UK, contributing to our mission of making money work for everyone. As a Senior Financial Crime Investigator, you'll tackle complex financial crime tasks and support our team in maintaining the integrity of our financial systems.

What You'll Do

• Take ownership of high-risk financial crime investigations, including Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and multi-jurisdictional money muling cases.
• Write and submit high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the National Crime Agency (NCA).
• Coach and mentor junior investigators, enhancing their skills in financial crime typologies.
• Collaborate with Operations Analysts to identify emerging trends and improve operational guidance.
• Conduct rigorous checks during onboarding and throughout the customer relationship.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of the UK Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) regime and legislative framework.
• Significant experience in conducting end-to-end due diligence (KYB) in a regulated financial crime setting.
• Proven ability to perform in-depth open-source research and analysis.
• Strong foundational knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) principles.
• Understanding of current UK and international financial crime trends.

Nice to Have

• Experience in coaching or mentoring peers.
• Track record of identifying process improvements.
• Relevant qualifications in Financial Crime (e.g., ACAMS, ICA Diploma).
