Senior Data Scientist - Remote Opportunity in Serbia

About the Role

Join our team as a Senior Data Scientist and collaborate with some of EPAM’s largest clients. This Senior Data Scientist remote position offers a chance to transform data into actionable insights and a competitive edge for organizations. You will design and implement advanced analytical models and tools that empower organizations to make informed, data-driven decisions, address current challenges, and prepare for future opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data using advanced analytical and machine learning techniques.
  • Develop, validate, and deploy descriptive and predictive models to drive business decisions.
  • Translate complex data analyses into actionable business insights and value.
  • Design and deliver high-quality data visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to present data-driven recommendations.
  • Mentor and train team members and stakeholders on data science concepts and best practices.
  • Estimate, plan, and coordinate the delivery of mid-sized data science projects.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate data science tools, libraries, and solution architectures.
  • Propose and implement holistic data science solutions tailored to client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data mining, statistics, or machine learning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a data-driven mindset.
  • Solid foundation in applied mathematics, statistical analysis, and machine learning.
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
  • Programming experience, preferably in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis tools and libraries (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, pandas, matplotlib, R, SAS, SPSS, MATLAB).
  • Experience with Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, MLlib).
  • Proficiency with at least one major cloud platform.
  • Experience deploying data science solutions to production environments.
  • Strong data visualization skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills (B2+).

Nice to Have

  • Good hands-on experience with Databricks.
  • Experience with NLP, text mining, or computer vision.
