Senior Data Scientist - AI-Enhanced Learning

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Data Scientist to join our innovative team at Preply. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in shaping our data strategy and enhancing our AI-driven learning platform. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely while making a significant impact on education globally.

What You'll Do

• Develop a strategic understanding of key value drivers in your domain, translating insights into actionable frameworks for leadership.
• Define and implement the long-term measurement and experimentation strategy, identifying growth levers beyond incremental optimization.
• Design and execute large-scale experiments to evaluate new ideas and their effectiveness in driving business outcomes.
• Lead analytical investigations into customer behavior and retention dynamics, transforming ambiguous questions into structured analyses.
• Own impact modeling and scenario analysis for major product initiatives, enabling informed planning decisions through robust forecasting.
• Govern key metrics within your domain, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
• Act as a senior thought partner to product and engineering leaders, driving alignment across teams and elevating analytical standards.
• Lead cross-domain analytical initiatives, such as company-wide LTV modeling and pricing strategy.

Requirements

• Proven track record of influencing product or business strategy in complex environments.
• Expertise in experimentation and causal inference, with the ability to guide high-stakes decisions.
• Strong understanding of subscription and marketplace economics, including LTV modeling and retention mechanics.
• Technical proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience mentoring senior data scientists.
• Curiosity and problem-solving skills, with the ability to proactively address challenges.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and navigate conflicting incentives in strategic discussions.
• Interest in impacting the product roadmap and strategy.

Nice to Have

• Experience in two-sided marketplaces or digital businesses.
• Familiarity with product analytics tools like Amplitude or Mixpanel.
• Experience applying advanced analytical methods to drive business improvements.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field.
