Senior Controls Specialist - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Controls Specialist to join our team remotely. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in control systems to enhance the reliability and cybersecurity of our operations. Your contributions will ensure compliance with NERC regulatory requirements while providing oversight to contractors and vendors.

What You'll Do

• Provide ownership and expert knowledge of control systems used by the Gas fleet at TVA’s sites.
• Ensure compliance with controls regulations, including NERC and Cybersecurity standards.
• Approve contractor work and participate in assessments on site personnel.
• Develop and implement policies to ensure compliance with cybersecurity and reliability standards.
• Lead or assist in the development of controls-related projects to improve system performance.
• Provide training to contractors on safety and operational procedures.
• Assist in performing Root Cause and Prevent Recurrence Analyses on equipment failures.
• Utilize your initiative to identify areas for controls-related improvements.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering functions supporting power generating facilities.
• Experience with HMI and historians is desirable.
• Knowledge of TVA Gas Operations electrical and digital control systems.
• Familiarity with Cyber Security regulations and reliability standards.
• NERC Training and Operation Certification is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with all levels of management.
• Demonstrated managerial competencies such as leadership and teamwork.

Nice to Have

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
• Experience with large-scale project management.
• Knowledge of FISMA & CIP areas.
