Forward Deployed Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our team at Picogrid, a leading venture-backed defense technology company. This role offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while collaborating closely with military customers to design and deliver end-to-end capabilities for real missions. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will operate at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer engagement, ensuring that our technology meets the critical demands of national security.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with military customers to understand mission needs and deliver tailored solutions.
• Engage directly with end-users to conduct valuable user testing and incorporate feedback into product development.
• Utilize your expertise in full-stack development to design and implement software solutions.
• Integrate complex government software systems, including data platforms and security systems.
• Work with distributed systems, autonomy platforms, and edge software to enhance operational capabilities.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a technical role that combines Software Engineering with customer-facing functions.
• Proven experience in full-stack development and engaging with end-users.
• Strong technical knowledge in distributed systems, data pipelines, and edge software.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to integrate with government software systems, including SIEM and IdAM providers.

Nice to Have

• Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience with Golang, Python, and React development.
• Familiarity with hybrid operating environments and common communication APIs.
• Background in DOD RMF, FedRAMP, or NIST 800-53 compliance.
• Experience with low-latency FMV/video systems and tactical data standards.

• Base salary range: $120,000 - $200,000 per year.
