Head of People Science and Operations - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of People Science and Operations to join OpenAI in a remote capacity. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our People team, ensuring that we effectively manage our talent and operational processes as we scale. The Head of People Science and Operations will oversee the integration of People Data Science and People Operations, driving analytics and operational excellence across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Lead a unified strategy across People Data Science, Analytics, and People Operations, ensuring that all processes are data-driven and effective.
• Inject scientific rigor into all aspects of People processes, from interviewing to compensation and talent recognition.
• Partner with various teams including Research, Engineering, and Product to leverage OpenAI's technology for internal improvements.
• Build an operating model that links experimentation, insight generation, process design, and service delivery.
• Oversee the development of people analytics, dashboards, and research agendas that enhance decision-making quality.
• Establish service standards and workflows across core people operations processes.
• Drive simplification and automation in onboarding, job changes, offboarding, and employee support.
• Ensure that people data is reliable and translated into actionable insights for executives.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or People Analytics.
• Significant leadership experience in managing scaled people systems in fast-paced environments.
• Strong command of analytics and evidence-based decision-making.
• Proven ability to redesign processes and build robust operating mechanisms.
• Experience leading through ambiguity and managing sensitive data.
• High executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience with global operations and compliance considerations is preferred.
