Senior Computer Vision Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to join our innovative team at Merantix. This remote role is pivotal in transforming our automation platform from early prototypes into production systems deployed across logistics networks. You'll work closely with our CTO and a talented engineering team to tackle real-world challenges in computer vision.

What You'll Do

• Develop and optimize multi-camera fusion systems to create a unified spatial model in real-time.
• Implement tag-free re-identification techniques to associate assets across different camera feeds.
• Map 2D detections to real-world coordinates and maintain a queryable spatial state over time.
• Design and maintain a robust ML training pipeline from raw footage to deployed models.
• Optimize edge deployment for on-premise inference on standard hardware.
• Set standards for model development and code quality as the team expands.
• Diagnose operational failures in pilot sites and feed insights back into engineering decisions.
• Lead technical discussions and mentor junior engineers in best practices for computer vision.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in computer vision, AI/ML, or robotics.
• Strong expertise in Python and/or C++ along with modern ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Deep understanding of computer vision algorithms and tools such as OpenCV, YOLO, and object detection frameworks.
• Proven experience taking at least one CV project from concept to deployment.
• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Fluent in English; German is not required.
• Experience with multi-camera systems or edge deployment is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in a startup or early-stage company.
• Familiarity with 3D reconstruction, SLAM, or sensor fusion.
• Knowledge of GDPR and privacy-preserving machine learning.
