Senior Backend Engineer - Remote Role for DevTool SaaS

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join our remote team at Checkly. This fully remote position allows you to work within the UTC-3 to UTC+3 time zones, empowering developers to ensure application performance and reliability. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our DevTool SaaS platform.

What You'll Do

• Harden & expand our backend, which runs on Hapi.js, Golang, and a mix of AWS and bare metal server monitoring infrastructure.
• Own and evolve our uptime monitoring platform, driving new capabilities for customers to observe and protect critical parts of their infrastructure at scale.
• Design and implement an API on our Clickhouse instance to capture check run logs and metadata.
• Work with customers to troubleshoot bugs in their private location infrastructure.
• Improve our status pages product to elevate it toward an industry-leading standard of reliability and transparency.
• Participate in our on-call rotation to keep everything running smoothly around the clock.

Requirements

• Deep experience in building applications in a professional SaaS environment, with proficiency in TypeScript (Go is a plus).
• Excitement about developer tooling and testing frameworks like Playwright.
• Experience building distributed systems on AWS/GCP or bare metal servers.
• Strong communication skills in spoken and written English.
• Autonomous and self-motivated in a remote environment.
• Ability to contribute across the stack and a passion for learning new technologies.
