Security Consultant - Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) Remote

About the Role

We are looking for a Security Consultant - Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) remote to join our team at GFiber. This fully remote position is a one-year contract with opportunities for extensions. You will play a pivotal role in establishing foundational security programs as GFiber transitions into a standalone company. Your responsibilities will include owning the security posture of all CPE endpoints, including router gateways (RG) and optical network terminals (ONT). You will be responsible for monitoring, protection, patching, and incident response across the device fleet.

What You’ll Do

• Enforce device hardening standards and security baselines across all CPE.
• Partner with endpoint engineering teams to deploy and monitor secure configurations.
• Develop and manage vulnerability identification, prioritization, and remediation processes.
• Serve as a technical SME supporting Incident Response with device-level remediation guidance.
• Utilize your strong scripting skills in PowerShell and Python for automation and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in security engineering, consulting, or related roles.
• Experience securing, hardening, and managing networking devices.
• Deep knowledge of OS internals and security controls for gateway and WiFi devices.
• Proven success implementing security standards across large customer device fleets.

Nice to Have

• Incident response and forensic analysis experience.
• Knowledge of networking technologies (routers, switches).
• Experience with both offensive and defensive security techniques.
• Background in security reviews, vulnerability analysis, and remediation.
• Understanding of threat modeling, risk-based assessments, and fleet-wide vulnerability management.
