About the Role

We are seeking a talented Research Engineer for 3D World Generation to join our innovative team at Roam. This role offers the unique opportunity to work remotely while contributing to the development of cutting-edge AI technologies that enable the creation of interactive 3D worlds. As a Research Engineer, you will be instrumental in building and optimizing generation pipelines, training methods, and inference systems that produce immersive 3D environments in real-time.

What You'll Do

  • Build and scale distributed training, data curation, and inference pipelines for multimodal 3D world generation.
  • Design and implement reinforcement learning (RL) pipelines for open-ended game generation, focusing on hierarchical action spaces and dynamic difficulty adjustment.
  • Own agent orchestration and diffusion-based tooling that transforms creator inputs into studio-quality simulated environments ready for real-time play.
  • Collaborate with a talented team of engineers and researchers to push the boundaries of AI in gaming.
  • Contribute to the development of benchmarks for retention and interactive intelligence in 3D environments.

Requirements

  • Experience in building or training large multimodal or agentic systems with real-scale constraints.
  • Strong understanding of distributed training and large vision or 3D pipelines.
  • Ability to switch comfortably between research and production code.
  • Desire for outsized ownership early in your career.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with a 996 schedule.
