Remote Staff Systems Engineer - Low Latency & Networking

About the Role

Join Jito Labs as a Remote Staff Systems Engineer focused on low latency and networking. In this role, you will architect high-performance distributed systems on Solana, contributing to groundbreaking projects like the Jito Block Engine and BAM. As a senior engineer, you will be integral to our mission of building systems that push the boundaries of modern hardware and networks.

What You'll Do

• Debug and optimize network performance end-to-end, focusing on NIC tuning, congestion control, and packet pacing.
• Analyze traffic using tools like tcpdump and Wireshark, and develop custom tooling for protocol behavior analysis.
• Work with advanced networking protocols beyond TCP/UDP, such as ICMP and multicast.
• Utilize hardware performance counters and eBPF to identify and resolve bottlenecks in system performance.
• Contribute to the development of low-level systems programming in Rust, with a strong emphasis on algorithms and data structures.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in systems programming, networking, or performance-critical infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in Linux, including kernel behavior and networking internals.
• Proficiency with packet analysis and network debugging tools.
• Strong programming fundamentals with a focus on concurrent code.
• Clear and direct communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience in high-frequency trading, real-time systems, or low-latency networking.
• Familiarity with virtualization internals and passthrough networking.
• Experience with blockchain infrastructure or Solana.
