About the Role
We are looking for a Remote Staff Software Engineer to lead our simulation systems at Muon Space. Simulation is a core piece of how we get things done, and as a key player in our team, you will enable simulation as a vital component in the planning, development, production, and scaling of our spacecraft hardware and software. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-fidelity simulations that directly impact spacecraft design and operations.
What You'll Do
- Lead the simulation vision at Muon and ensure its integration into all phases of spacecraft development.
- Develop high fidelity simulations of spacecraft hardware and software interactions with the physical environment.
- Scale simulations to operate on demand in a massively parallel cloud environment, simulating a wide range of scenarios.
- Oversee the integration of simulation in various systems including software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and operations-in-the-loop.
- Define requirements for major simulation software initiatives and execute on them effectively.
- Push the boundaries of spacecraft simulation, keeping Muon at the forefront of advanced design and operational capabilities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering and simulation.
- Substantial experience modeling different classes of dynamics across mechanical, electrical, and aerospace engineering.
- Ability to apply various modeling philosophies including data-driven, first-principle, and parameter-fitting.
- Broad knowledge of computational mathematics: differential equations, statistics, optimization, and geometry.
- Expertise in distributed system design, cloud computing, and API design.
- A deep understanding of numerical methods and high productivity in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with spacecraft systems and operations.
- Familiarity with advanced simulation tools and technologies.
- Strong collaboration skills in multidisciplinary teams.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $160,000 per year.
- Fully remote work environment, allowing you to work from anywhere.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Collaborative and innovative work culture.
- Health and wellness benefits.
This role offers a unique opportunity to lead simulation systems in a cutting-edge aerospace company, with a competitive salary and fully remote work.
Who Will Succeed Here
Proficient in cloud computing technologies such as AWS or Azure, with a strong understanding of API design for integrating simulation systems into existing architectures.
Self-motivated and disciplined, thriving in a remote work environment by effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines.
Demonstrated experience in leading complex simulation projects, utilizing numerical methods and distributed systems to optimize spacecraft design and operations.
