About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Staff Protocol Engineer to join our innovative team at Ava Labs. As a leader in blockchain development, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and advancing the EVM for the Avalanche blockchain. This Remote Staff Protocol Engineer position offers the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that redefine how value is created in the Web3 space.

What You'll Do

• Maintain and enhance Avalanche’s EVM-compatible chains.
• Design and implement paradigm-shifting extensions on top of vanilla EVMs, ensuring ecosystem compatibility.
• Contribute to projects like libevm, a backwards-compatible fork of geth with injectable configuration directives.
• Work on Streaming Asynchronous Execution, enabling decoupled consensus and execution for concurrent operations.
• Dive into existing codebases to understand and improve upon them, showcasing your self-starter attitude and curiosity.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Staff Engineer or similar role in blockchain technology.
• Deep understanding of EVM and its ecosystem.
• Strong programming skills, particularly in languages relevant to blockchain development.
• Ability to work asynchronously and manage your time effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Avalanche or similar blockchain platforms.
• Familiarity with decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts.
• Knowledge of consensus algorithms and their implementations.
